Film Opportunity of a Lifetime

COP15-Media

If there’s one quality that makes film such a compelling medium, it’s the opportunity to tell a story with images. And what makes a story great is engagement, passion, and energy. Power Shift has it all – and it’s a great chance for budding film students to gain valuable experience.

The Australian Youth Climate Coalition would like to invite the services of film students to document our Power Shift 2011 youth climate summit.

Shooting Power Shift is a great exercise for anyone interested in film. There will be a wealth of great footage available, while the unique conditions of a youth summit will be a great test of your ability. You’ll be taking part in an effort to document a growing movement that is going to go down in history – Australia’s youth climate movement is going to be huge.

Purpose of the Footage
The AYCC will be producing a video to summarise and emphasise the highlights from Power Shift 2011. It will be viewed on youtube by Power Shift participants, and will be a great way to help us hold on to positive memories, as well as giving us something we can share with our friends. The video will also be used to promote the AYCC and our activities in a wider audience – likely applications include school talks, and other public presentations

In a nutshell, if we were to host a similar summit in February 2012, this video would serve as an invaluable promotional tool. (You can see our 2009 highlights video on Youtube, although for 2011 we would prefer a shorter video)

Get Involved
We are hiring a Videography Coordinator to oversee the project and edit and produce a final highlights video. We are inviting additional volunteers to join a team that will work with this Coordinator. They will be responsible for documenting, amongst other things: plenaries, keynote speakers, vox pops, workshops and a mass action on the Monday.
